Tasa Meng has joined forces with government and non-profit organisations in a tree-planting programme across Taiwan.
The travel retailer marked Arbor Day (12 March) – and honoured famous Taiwanese figure Dr Sun Yat-sen, who passed away on 12 March 1925 – with the planting of a Cinnamomum Kanehirae. The tree, which can live for up to 500 years, is endemic to Taiwan and under threat of extinction.
Tasa Meng General Manager Gary Chau underlined the importance of “nurturing trees in areas where they are needed most”.
He told The Moodie Davitt Report that Tasa Meng has, with its partners, adopted a science-based approach to tree planting throughout Taiwan. “We work together to protect our world, to inspire and educate our staff members, and to encourage them to get their hands a little dirty in supporting a better life across Taiwan,” Chau said.
The tree-planting programme is one of many activities supported by the Tasa Meng Education Foundation, which focuses on both the arts and the environment and supports local charities.
Chau thanked the Tasa Meng team for its efforts, along with representatives from the Taipei City Shilin District YangMing village office, ‘Taipei’s secret garden’ Floriculture Experiment Center and other local authorities.
